The little box that could Love it or hate it, there's no doubt that the Ouya Android-Powered gaming console garnered a huge following with both developers and consumers as soon as it was announced via Kickstarter. Three days ago the Kickstar finally ended, raising an astounding $8,596,475. Even more astonishing, the goal was set at only $950,000 dollars. For all of that money, the Ouya will hopefully put it to good use.
Most people love playing Video Game's on their televisions as opposed to Cell-Phones or Tablet devices. What this team is aiming to do is take those console quality titles from those aforementioned devices and blow them up onto your television screen for $99 dollars. They are also promising a completely hackable device right out the box and the ability for game developers to create games without paying for anything but the console.
Will the promise of High Profile games as well as OnLive being announced as a day one app be enough to show the cramped console market that there’s room for “just one more?” As the saying goes, only time will tell. If you would like to pre-order a console you can purchase one from the official Ouya website and have it shipped day of release with your choice of controllers.
